ISD Council held a preliminary closed discussion about the Broadcasting Regulatory Framework in the Digital Era (Kerangka Peraturan Penyiaran di Era Digital) last week. Attended by relevant stakeholders consist of academics, industry players and regulators, the discussion talked about the nature of broadcasting in digital era, trends happening due to technological development, as well as the complex nature of ecosystem landscape. Concluding the discussion, it was acknowledged that more conversation is needed to reach a common understanding on the subject matters. One example of existing regulation was mentioned: the Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD) by EU that covers all audiovisual media including traditional TV broadcasts and on-demand services, which can be a reference and subject for further adjustment to the Indonesian context.
